Sneaker News Devin Booker, who is of Mexican descent on his mother’s side, just shared a special Nike Book 1 PE to coincide with the Cinco de Mayo holiday, a significant date in Mexican history.
Somewhat reminiscent of 2005’s Nike SB Dunk Low “Cinco de Mayo”, this Book 1 follows the colors of the Mexican flag and features a red toe-guard, green heel, and black Swoosh sitting above a clean white upper. A logo on the heel depicts a handshake (one in black, the other in red) to possibly nod to his mixed heritage.
Booker also tags his close friend PJ Tucker; the Knicks veteran player will possibly debut the shoes tonight as New York faces off against Boston in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals series. Tucker has yet to share any hints on what he’s planning to lace up today.
The Book 1 Player Exclusives have been on an incredibly strong run as of late as the debut signature shoe nears its end. There are still a small handful of retail releases scheduled through Summer/Fall 2025, so the Nike Book 2 debut will likely arrive much later this year around the start of the 2025-2026 season.
