It was only a matter of time before we got another chapter in the Action Bronson New Balance relationship. With his work under the Boston brand, the Queens native has notched “sneaker of the year” contenders for the past two, first taking on the New Balance 990v6 before moving to a three-headed collection centered around the New Balance 1906R. As he plots his own personal three-peat, he’s returning to the 990v6, officially previewing his “Amazonia” colorway.
Quickly jumping back to Bam Bam’s last link-up with NB, during the rollout of his Minimus Trail and FuelCell Rebel v4 performance capsule, the rapper let loose three never-before-seen colorways by way of apparel lookbook images. Frequent collaborator Meyhem Lauren sported the shoe in question, leaving breadcrumbs for those who are truly tapped into the Bronson universe.
Now, giving us our closest look at the shoe yet, the New Balance 990v6 “Amazonia” aligns well with the Action Bronson design language we’ve all become accustomed to. It’s an eccentric blend of colors and an unconventional color-blocking scheme; vivid red and deep blue dominate most of the real estate, jade blue-green is only applied on the eye-stay panel, and a shock of beige envelops the silhouette on the mudguard. Now a calling card across all his kicks, his “Baklava” moniker appears on the tongue, while some additional pops of color sneak in on the outsole tread.
With Action Bronson also sporting this upcoming New Balance collab for his appearance on Ariel Helwani’s show, it’s a “where there’s smoke, there’s fire” situation: we’ll likely get release info sooner than later. Until then, keep an eye on our Sneaker Release Dates page and further familiarize yourself with this pair with the images interspersed throughout this piece.
