New Balance 1906R

The New Balance 1906R is a running lifestyle model that first debuted in 2009. Experiencing a less than spectacular initial run, the silhouette was shelved until re-emerging in 2022 with the “R” tag/subtitle, indicating remastered construction. The design of the 1906R simplified the sole unit, removing full length N-ergy gel and reducing its presence at the heel. As with many New Balance offerings, the silhouette gained extra buzz when Teddy Santis’ Aime Leon Dore label chose it for a collaborative capsule collection. The metallic overtones and neutral accents of that pair would go on to inform much of the general releases that brought back the model to consumers in earnest.

However, some of the most well-known pairs of the shoe like the three-pronged Action Bronson New Balance 1906R collection and Salehe Bembury New Balance “Heat Be Hot” go in a far more expressive direction with the model. The most recently released on that front is the Jack Harlow New Balance 1906R, having dropped in October 2024.

The success of the New Balance 1906R proper has led the Boston brand to iterate on its construction with a handful of spin-off models. The “Tech Explosion” New Balance 1906A silhouette debuted in July 2024 while the New Balance 1906L loafer emerged in September 2024. Additionally, the utility-minded New Balance 1906U gets new colorways on a consistent basis while the New Balance 1906W is the latest to hit the market.

Below you’ll find our latest coverage on the New Balance 1906R, including collaboration news, release dates and product links pointing out where to get your pair.
