While it may not get the pub that the adidas AE1 does, the Harden Vol. 8 was/is as much a part of the spectacular shift in adidas Basketball. By way of official product shots cropping up far in advance in October, we got an extremely early sense of how The Beard’s sequel shoe would look — at least in broad strokes. As the 1 year anniversary of the Harden Vol. 8 hitting shelves nears, portending a drop for his subsequent model, he and adidas are showcasing the Harden Vol. 9 in official capacity right on time.
As mentioned, the technologic, futuristic design language that runs throughout current adidas Basketball propositions (the D.O.N. Issue 6 and Dame 9 each included in that conversation.) The general silhouette of the shoe remains intact including a seemingly very similar inner fabric bootie to the one utilized on the Vol. 9. However, the standout feature of course is the removal of the teardrop EVA cage, replacing it with a claw-like counterpart that further creeps up towards the ankle.
This colorway, dubbed “Cyber Metallic” when it previously emerged, is expected to debut the model in January 2025, with adidas promising a slew of additional looks coming around that same time. While a retail price isn’t yet confirmed by the brand, we’re projecting an MSRP in the same $160 region as the model’s predecessor.
