This Sturdy New Balance 1906R Sports A Mysterious Plaid Pattern

As the New Balance 1906R has ascended and crested as the Boston brand’s spotlight model, we’ve grown accustomed to getting new offshoots of the 2010s runner. The New Balance 1906U and New Balance 1906A stand foremost in that crowd, either one leaning into industrial & outdoorsy aesthetics. Though it doesn’t bear a new model name, those same guiding ideals are still present for the latest New Balance 1906R colorway.

First glances at this pair reveal the most impactful forces for this pair, sporting ballistic-like, steel grey mesh and suede overlays on top of it. Indeed, the chrome hit split down the center of the midsole and TPU iron-toned heel cage continue that dominant monochromatic vibe, but patterns actually play a major role here. Check out the insole, clad in a plaid pattern that’s seemingly reflected with the textured panel underneath the “N” branding. The special edition hangtag closes out that motif, centering New Balance branding inside a crosshatch, diamond pattern.

Going just off these official images and without official word from New Balance, it’s hard to come to any concrete conclusions about the overriding theme here. It’s absolutely piqued our interest and this colorway has captured our attention the same way all recent New Balance 1906Rs have. Look for this colorway landing on NewBalance.com and via partnering retailers before the end of this year.
