This Air Jordan 8 Is Inspired By The Original Air Raid

In the history of athletic footwear, no designer has created more iconic silhouettes than Tinker Hatfield. The unrelentingly creative mastermind behind shoes like the Air Jordan 11, Air Trainer 1, and Air Max 1 has proven time and time again that the shape, styling, and stories behind a sneaker truly know no bounds. In 2018, Nike has been digging into Hatfield’s archives for more special footwear — like an Air Jordan 3 inspired by an early design sketch and the Air Jordan 10 “Tinker”, with a colorway inspired by the Nike Huarache Light — and the latest shoe to get a special “Tinker” take is the Air Jordan 8.

Featuring a colorway inspired by the “Urban Jungle” Nike Air Raid 1 and 2 — early ’90s Nike Basketball classics with crisscrossing straps on the upper — the shoes use a combo of black nubuck and woven materials as the base, while colorful ’90s-style hits arrive on the tongue patch and plastic midfoot embellishments. A green sockliner and small yellow detail on the outsole add further pops of color, and the look is then completed by yellow “Live Together” text on the heel tab. Expect these special AJ8s to release December 22nd — just in time for Christmas.
