Deion Sanders
Deion Sanders, AKA Prime Time, AKA Coach Prime as he’s known now, was Nike’s signature NFL athlete in the 1990s, his immense popularity leading to five editions of his Nike Air DT Trainer being released from ’93 to ’98. Though his playing days ended in the early 2000s, their merchandising deal stayed in place until 2009, when Prime instead inked paperwork to join Under Armour.
As the 2020s started and Sanders again became a walking headline as the coach of Jackson State and later Colorado, interest in his sneaker line again began picking up. The feeling, evidently, was mutual. Nike and Sanders revived their relationship towards the middle of 2023. Their renewed partnership immediately paid dividends, with Colorado players sharing looks at their PE Deion Sanders shoes, most clad in the jagged sawtooth design of Prime’s DT Trainer series.
The trademark Deion Sanders shoes returned in 2024, the Nike Air DT Max Trainer ’96 coming back in OG fashion. It was an instant sell-out, that pair currently commanding resale prices hundreds of dollars above its retail. Based on early reporting, it appears that we’ll get plenty more DT Max releases in 2024. Below you’ll find our latest coverage on everything at the cross section of Deion Sanders and the sneaker world, including future retro drops and release dates.
