ANTA KAI 1
The ANTA KAI 1 is Kyrie Irving’s first basketball signature shoe after leaving Nike, its debut release coming in March 2024 with the “Artist On Court” colorway.
Following the severance of the relationship between Mavericks star Kyrie Irving and Nike, the future of the immensely popular line of Kyrie Irving shoes was entirely in doubt. Enter Chinese sneaker brand ANTA, who signed the Dallas guard to a long-term deal towards the middle of the following year.
2024 at long last brought the fruits of their relationship to the public. The silhouette debuted in a purple and pink “Artist On Court” colorway, dropping on March 5th for $125. They were an instant sell-out, boding well for the future of their new footwear partnership.
While the “Kaiverse” pair launched 323 pairs of a second colorway, they remain an ultra-limited China-only drop. The “Enlightened Warrior” instead served as the true follow-up on April 12th, succeeded shortly after by two Mavericks colorways with the “Playoffs” pack. The ANTA KAI 1 “Mother’s Day” continued the shoe’s young legacy, albeit also in limited fashion- just 450 pairs were released through New Jersey’s Sneaker Room. As of writing, the next pair is likely the “Kai Feng” PE worn by Irving, rumored for a wider release down the road (with one or two exceptions, every pair worn on-court gotten a public launch shortly afterwards. )
