No, these kicks weren’t designed after the prehistoric creatures that went extinct 65 million years ago, they were made for American rock band Dinosaur Jr.  These sneakers were very hyped before their release probably because of their futuristic-looking metallic silver uppers.  The purple accenting made these that much more desirable.
