Ja Morant
Ja Morant is an All-Star basketball player for the Memphis Grizzlies. In 2019, he signed with Nike Basketball to a multi-year endorsement deal, and on April 2023, his first signature shoe officially launched. Ja is described as Nike’s first Gen-Z athlete; his shoes — the Ja 1 — are moderately priced at $110 and are designed by Ben Nethongkome.
The season-ending injury he suffered shortly after making his 2023-24 NBA debut has no doubt made giving his signature shoe a sequel a more complicated proposition. It seems equally likely that they’ll wait for him to return to his stellar on-court production to debut the Nike Ja 2 as it is that it’ll follow the release schedule of its predecessor, which would put a debut date somewhere in April 2024.
Even if his line hasn’t gotten a new shoe, the Nike Ja 1 continues to shine as a spotlighted model out of Nike Basketball, and new colorways emerge on a consistent basis. For 2024, editions like the Nike Ja 1 “NY vs. NY” or Ja 1 “Murray State” stand out as exciting pairs on the upcoming slate, but new mainline colorways emerge on a very consistent basis.
