Similar to the 992 before it, the New Balance 2002R has made impressive headway since its inaugural releases. And after a collaboration with both THISISNEVERTHAT and INVINCIBLE/N.HOOLYWOOD, the silhouette is continuing to expand with the help of six readily available GR colorways.
From vibrant blocking to characteristic use of neutrals, the range explores a number of vastly distinct aesthetics, each, though, a vignette of design languages used prior. The versatile entries, which tally up to a total of three, take shades of cream, grey, and navy and apply it to the upper’s suede and mesh construction in tonal fashion. Their soles, for ease of production, are near identical as they all bear a slight yellowing that recalls of vintage offerings. Then, the Boston footwear begins to get more color forward, using hot pinks as an accent on one pair while light greens and oranges dress the two options adjacent. Two shades of dark green suede then outfit forward on the latter two, while the former mixes together navy and white neutrals.
