Recent years have seen the sneaker space explode with collaborations. And while some joint-efforts are ostensibly rooted in quick cash grabs, others are products of genuine relationships between two or more organizations. European retailer size? has produced the latter throughout its 20 years in existence, and its latest turns to long-time collaborator adidas. The project?: A ZX 5000 and ZX 10,000C exclusive to the boutique.
Unlike some of its non-Three Stripes collaborations from this year, size?’s forthcoming ZX duo forgoes a disparate palette in favor of an orange, black and white trifecta applied differently onto each pair. Very much inspired by the Torsion-backed-line’s ’80s debut, the Originals silhouettes are given a retro-arrangement atop a pre-aged midsole. Mesh and suede construction keeps its standard placement, but have been stamped with “ZX 5000” text on the lateral midfoot – a first for the model.
The newer ZX pair of the pack forgoes self-referential detailing, but features size?’s signature “?” on the heel. Profile 3-Stripes and Torsion branding work in-tandem with other accents across the Jacques Chassaing-designed proposal to deliver retro-flair to an otherwise greyscale option. Despite debuting in 2018, the ZX 10,000C nods to the past with its slightly-yellowed sole unit, which size? implemented as it imagined what the silhouette would look like on a running store’s shelf four decades ago.
Enjoy a look at the ZX duo here below, and find pairs exclusively at size? come October 2nd.
Elsewhere under the Three Stripes umbrella, Yeezy has a handful of releases prepped for the remainder of 2020.
