Nike ISPA, the Swoosh’s future-forward imprint, unveiled one of its most ambitious collections back in July. On October 8th, the label enlists the Drifter Gator on its mission to Improvise, Scavenge, Protect and Adapt.
At a glance, the forthcoming proposal is built with the same DNA as the Drifter, which is inspired by traditional Japanese tabi footwear. The new model, however, forgoes a split-toe design in favor of a zippered compartment at the heel that houses a removable shroud. Designed with bicycle commuters in mind, the “Volt”-colored component protects the model’s Flyknit upper from wet conditions, while also increasing visibility. Sole units opt out of any bright accents, but feature an eye-catching arrangement achieved by a layered, multi-textured build that encloses VaporMax cushioning.
