Kanye West, both now and then, has always been a remarkable individual regardless of how you see his personality. Whether by way of his unique yet versatile musicality or his oft-imitated taste for fashion, the celebrity consistently lives in the headlines and even his past collaborations with Nike are to this day some of the most iconic in the entirety of sneaker culture. Though usually celebrated by way of customs, it seems the brand is now using the collection for inspiration as they color the Air Max 90 to the look of the mythical Yeezy 2 “Cheetah.”
Though not exactly identical, the pair still cuts quite close as it uses many of the core accents the palette once comprised of. Purple hues, tinted just a bit darker to better suit the constructions adjacent, are applied atop the toe cap, side profile, and tongue with both ordinary suedes and a bevy of textured leathers — some crocodile-like in look and others more simple with ostrich-esque dotting. Neon greens then dress the frontward eye stay molds in lieu of a tongue-placed emblem, red laces wrap the tongue seemingly without gold aglets, and the tread finishes with a cool tone that’s reminiscent of its muse but not quite exact.
