Michael Le With All Star Weekend taking place in Chicago this year, it’s no surprise that many of its themes are making its way to Nike silhouettes — the most recent of which being the Air Flight 89 whose impression of the city’s flag was near spot on. Taking on this very same motif, though with a fair bit more subtlety, the Air Max 97 applies the signature red, white, and light blue with stars unfortunately omitted. Uppers, which mix in various fabrications as per usual, lie more on the ordinary end of the spectrum with smooth leathers and mesh: the latter more sparing as it only pokes through between many of the much more visually substantial overlays. Mudguards opt for slight tumbling all across with the piping above cascading upwards in black to red and then two more dynamic pieces of the focal cool tone.
