Japan’s emmi Floods The New Balance 996 With A Sultry Red

Despite their breadth of strong tailoring and preference for the seemingly formal, Japanese womenswear label emmi keeps a firm grasp on the entirety of the sneaker industry, often putting model after model at the center of each minimal ensemble. Fittingly, with its roots in the country running deep and its officewear pairings quite fervent, New Balance takes up the feminine mystique of the label in collaboration to give a well-needed makeover to the 996. Possibly forgotten and thrown aside in favor of socialites like the 997 or 990, the middle numerical is a staple if there ever was one, boasting a its familiar style and enhanced structure through the tonal red colorway of designer Natsuko Tanokura’s design. The sultry warm tones are dyed throughout the entire presentation, only deviated in shade slightly as it transitions from material to material. Branding is otherwise kept true to form, though a small bit of poetic type adds their sign off. Grab a detailed look at the pair right here and find it rolling out to select retailers across Japan come September 13th.
