With ZX poised to be the next big story for adidas, they’re taking a step back from the new and shiny to pay homage to many of the line-up’s past issues right in time for the 30th anniversary of Torsion. Expanding its trend of timely revivals and retro styling, the imprint has brought back the ZX 5000, ZX 6000, ZX 7000, and ZX 9000 in colorways of the same vibrant spectrum. The first, and appropriately the most vintage in aesthetic, is one of the truest Three Stripes form with simple paneling lying at the hands of its blue and grey color blocking and choice of suede and mesh fabrications. Heel counters, a strong and structurally integral addition to each of the arriving four, is shared with the following iteration whose likeness deviates most in its choice of bright yellow and subtly in its removal of underlying toe caps and slightly lowered tongue. The 7000, however, is a huge departure in relative terms with shape staying true and accents exploring more intricately cut toe boxes, colorful support caps, jagged designs across the colored sole, and a completely remolded eye stay. Its mint tone, which finds its way across the bottom and sparingly on the profile, is shared with the next in line though the 9000 prefers its use across the majority of its constructions with red accents lining the inners and rear while yellowed midsoles and grey mesh add neutral balance.
