Known most often for their grey drab colorways, the Boston-based New Balance is giving their newest frontrunner, the 990v5, a colorful makeover with the help of retailer size?. Honoring the corner shops that lie at the heart of each and every small British community, the pairing have painted the pig suede uppers and luxe mesh in a 80s palettes akin to the vintage branding of many a food label. Mimicking the experience with a shopping basket and all, the silhouette jumps out in its most daring, with neon yellows and deeply saturated blues comprising the majority of the construction. The usual metallic fixtures placed atop the tongue and “N” logo are left intact though various embellishments of a surging pink — found most prominently along the toe box, laces, and American flag patch — are left to further break up any semblance of the model’s original self.
Limited to a small 500 pairs, expect to find each to release exclusively at size? both online and a select number of store come June 28th for a retail of £180.
