Nike Honors Iconic Colorways Of The Air Max 90 With A “Mixtape” Release

As any true ’90s baby will tell you, there was nothing quite like a homemade summertime soundtrack before the era of endless streaming service playlists, so Nike is nodding to those DIY days of yore with a brand-new Air Max 90 “Mixtape.” White mesh, grey leathers, and yellow branded accents are combined to provide a summer-ready palette here, and special details aplenty are then scattered throughout. “Side A” appears on the tongue of each sneaker, and if you look below the yellow and grey flecked laces, you’ll see that “33 1/3” RPM is printed farther down the throat for a nod to the speed at which a vinyl record plays. The shoe’s style code, color scheme, and manufacturing info are then dispersed across the throat as well. Although this alone is sure to delight AM90 fans and old-school music lovers, there’s even more inspiring interpolation present on the translucent outsole, which presents a hand-scrawled “track list” of eight colorways — OG Infrared, King Of The Mountain, Anniversary Cork, Moon Landing, Lemon Frost, Untold Truth, OG Ostrich, and BRS Powerwall — to ramp up the nostalgia even further. Stitched detailing by the heel and a luxe cork insole then complete the look.
