The adidas NMD R1 Celebrates Chinese New Year With Inspired Colorway

All throughout January and February, the globe’s leading sneaker brands will de unloading a bounty of Chinese New Year-inspired sneakers dressed in color combination that include – but are not limited to – a familiar array of black, red, and yellow. Of course, adidas’ CNY-friendly capsule would not be complete without their iconic NMD R1 silhouette that you see here dressed in black Primeknit with red midfoot stripes and a multi-colored traditional Chinese dragon mask embroidered onto its heel. While indeed 2019 is the year of the pig in Chinese culture, the Trefoil brand has focused many of their drops around the symbol of a dragon that represents prosperity and good luck in ancient tradition. With the Chinese New Year fast approaching, pairs of this celebratory NMD are slated to arrive at adidas.com and Three Stripes stockists around the globe on January 19th.
