In an effort to remain relevant in today’s ever-changing sneaker landscape, the Boston-based New Balance brand is sifting through its own archives to release new takes on time-tested silhouettes. This began with the sportier upgrade of the New Balance 574 by way of the 574 Sport, and now NB is doing something similar with the 997 in creating the 997 S. Set to release in two colorways next January, fans of New Balance’s iconic premium aesthetic will have their choice between a pair with multiple levels of grey layering as well as a primarily cream variety that comes spiced up with clean hits of navy. Its new entrance-system features a slight bootie-like construction with an exaggerated heel and tongue in an effort to increase the wearer’s comfort alongside its innovation ENCAP cushioned sole. Grab a detailed look at both of these 997S colorway options below and tell us if you will be picking up a pair.
