Just because two things are great separately doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll be good — or even serviceable — together. One thing may overpower the other, or the fusion of both may dull what makes each so great individually. Thankfully, that’s not at all the case for Nike’s hybrid Air Max 90/1. A shoe that combines two of the most popular Air Max silhouettes of all time to great effect by melding an Air Max 90 sole together with an Air Max 1 upper, the hybrid silhouette failed to generate much buzz when it first released in 1992. It’s enjoyed enjoyed a comeback in 2018 though, as the fusion-style aesthetic it offers is perfectly in line with today’s maximalist footwear trends. The latest colorway to surface? A clean and simple “Cargo Khaki” that opts to keep the accents minimal and let the striking design do the talking. The layered upper uses a white mesh for the base, while light grey leather midfoot and heel overlays provide a textured look. The large mudugard and midfoot swoosh are both dressed in the aforementioned “Cargo Khaki” colorway that looks almost black at certain angles. A white midsole, clear Air Max unit, and Cargo Khaki outsole then complete the look. These cool combo kicks release November 15th at the retailers listed below for $140 USD.
