The Doernbecher collections have become one of the most heartfelt collaborations to ever grace the Beaverton brand and sneaker culture itself, allowing for its many patients to have a hand in the nuanced design process behind some of the most popular silhouettes on the market. This time tapping into the creative mind of Payton Fentress — who was sidelined once being diagnosed with Crohn’s disease and colitis in 2010 — the collaborative pair is producing a Zoom Fly SP that pays homage to some of Fentress’s favorite teams. Reflecting his electric personality, the entire palette is full of bold tones, featuring volt detailing along the forefoot and midsole with a nice selection of blues, oranges, and reds throughout the rest of the upper. Insoles sport a photo image of one of the Chicago Cub’s most iconic moments while hits of theirs and the Portland Trail Blazers’ champion dates rest as subtle accents on the heel and tongue. “Greatest Of All Time” sits confidently printed along the medial side, capping off a most detailed love letter to two of America’s favorite pastimes. At a retail of $170 USD, the “Doernbecher Freestyle” Zoom Fly SP will be at nike.com on December 14th.
