Nike SB pairs up with NYC chef David Chang for a special edition of the Dunk High Pro dubbed “Momofuku” after his famous Momofuku Noodle Bar. Located in the East Village of Manhattan, Momofuku, now a NYC culinary institute, is where Chang met figures in the skate scene and recognized parallels between skate and food culture. With skate style partly inspiring the dark grey kitchen dress of Momofuku and Chang’s second restaurant Ssäm Bar, it all comes full circle with the Nike SB Dunk High in a dark denim upper meant to look like one of his restaurant’s kitchen aprons.
Along with the denim upper, the shoe also references Momfuku with the restaurant’s peach logo at the heel, as well as a matching stylized Nike SB logo on the tongue. The numbers “163” and “207” are found on the sock liners, noting the addresses of David’s Fuku and Ssäm Bar restaurants in NYC, respectively.
After Chang helps provide the city’s skaters with lunch on Go Skateboarding Day this year (June 21) at Coleman Skate Park, the Dunk High Pro will drop in limited quantities on June 22nd at Fuku (163 First Avenue, New York, NY 10003) at 10 AM. A second release at select Nike retailers will follow on June 23rd.
