Odell Beckham Jr. has an affinity for wearing Yeezys in public, but that might just come to an end. It’s being reported that OBJ, the superstar wide receiver for the New York Giants, just signed a five-year shoe deal with Nike, a contract big enough to be the most lucrative shoe deal in history for an NFL player. While a signature shoe was not part of the negotiating deals, it’s quite a possibility given his marketability on and off the field and the fact that his former teammate Victor Cruz had success as a non-performance signature shoe pitchman.
Beckham Jr. is one of the most recognizable NFL athletes thanks to his incredible speed, outrageous catches, and gaudy custom cleats inspired by Charlie Brown, the self-lacing Nike Mag, and more. OBJ’s most recent deal with Nike expired on May 1st, which spurned adidas to make him an offer. Nike matched those figures, ensuring the superstar in the Swoosh for the next half-decade.
