After Reebok Classic’s two days of events in New Orleans for NBA All-Star Weekend including the launch parties for the Curren$y x Reebok Club C 85 and the Sneaker Politics x Humidity x Reebok Workout Lo with Juvenile and Mannie Fresh, day three on Saturday was the biggest party yet.
Once again teaming up with Louisiana’s premier sneaker boutique Politics to drop the Shaq Attaq “Alma Mater” in homage to Shaq’s days at LSU, the Big Diesel himself made an appearance for a special in-store appearance and meet and greet with fans on Saturday afternoon, signing pairs of the first collaborative version of the Shaq Attaq to drop for the legendary model’s 25th anniversary this year. A few lucky guests even left with an autographed pair of Shaq’s colossal size 22 that Reebok and Sneaker Politics had produced as a special promotional item. Believe us, they’re huge! Shaq’s fellow Reebok hoops legend Dee Brown also stopped by, wearing the famous Omni Lite Pump that he made iconic after pumping up during his 1991 Slam Dunk Contest win. The Shaq Attaq “Alma Mater” is available now exclusively at SneakerPolitics.com.
After leaving Sneaker Politics on Chartres Street, the Reebok Classic party migrated to famous Bourbon Street for the “Classics in the Courtyard” event hosted with Footaction. The grand finale of Reebok’s big weekend in the Big Easy, the historic Bourbon St. courtyard was no doubt the place to be Saturday evening when hip-hop fans and sneakerheads got treated to a free performance from Curren$y, Teyana Taylor, and Harlem legend Cam’ron—all wearing their favorite Reebok sneakers, of course. The show was accompanied by the Reebok Classic x Footaction pop-up shop, where attendees could purchase a number of styles like the Classic Leather and Club C, and even had the chance to customize pairs with their own colors and illustrations. Also on hand was a special showcase of vintage models right out of the Reebok archives, offering a look at the history of the brand throughout the years.
See a recap of both Saturday events here, and if you like what you find on anybody’s feet, keep in mind that the Shaq Attaq is available now at SneakerPolitics.com in limited quantities, while the Club C, Classic Leather, and Teyana’s Freestyle Hi are all online at Reebok.com.
