After hosting the launch party for the Curren$y x Reebok Club C 85 on Thursday night, the party continued at Sneaker Politics in New Orleans for All-Star Weekend on Friday with none other than Juvenile and Mannie Fresh in the building to help celebrate the launch of the new Reebok Workout Lo inspired by the local rap legends. Sneaker Politics teamed up with NOLA-based skate shop Humidity for the collab, inspired by the Hot Boys and the shoe’s local-favorite status. The Workout has a special place in New Orleans sneaker history, a popular silhouette worn by Juvenile, Mannie, and many other locals who nicknamed it the “Soldier” (or more accurately in NOLA’s drawl, “Solja”). In the house to help launch the shoe Friday night, Juvenile and Mannie took it back by performing some of their biggest hits to the shop packed with fans, including “Back That Azz Up” and “Ha”.
Taking the “Soldier” mentality and the 504 Boyz’s usual camouflage-clad outfits into consideration, Humidity and Politics created a tribute to the city’s hip-hop history with their own version of the Workout Lo, featuring a cracked white leather finish with camo accents and metallic gold detailing all atop a gum rubber sole. Unique features to the collab include “Soldier” in place of the Reebok logo on the left heel, “504” patches on the inner tongue, and dual-branded flame graphic insoles.
Releasing in-store last night at the new Politics location in the the French Quarter at 216 Chartres St., the Workout Lo is available now online at SneakerPolitics.com in limited quantities. See a full recap of the night’s festivities and detailed photos of the shoe below.
