“This is how we take the old from new, the new to the old, the old from the new!” Yes we’re about to take you back….. Way back…… into time! The year was 2001 and the summer had just tapered off but things were still heating up in the streets as Busta Rhymes had just dropped one of the break out hits of the year “Break Ya Neck”. This song is very befitting of the Nike Air Force 1 B Lows pictured above that released at nearly the same time as surely everyone who saw these green beasts on someone’s feet were breaking their necks trying to figure out what on earth they were. Is that a swoosh? Where is the swoosh? What are those? Some will argue that they are a stepchild to the AF1 Line, while other aficionados like Dj Clark Kent will fight tooth and nail to defend the legendary status of the timeless “Hong Kong” AF1 B. Big up to Dj Clark Kent for recognizing the true specialty represented by this co.jp exclusive. This sneaker represents a moment in AF1 history where Nike did something different with the AF1, something so radical yet subtle that would make it a timeless and unparalleled classic.
For those who don’t know, before there were premiums, supremes, inside-outs, or max airs, there was the B line. Many are familiar with the Pro B line that existed under the Dunk model for some time, and others may remember the Air Max 1 B line which has the Safari and Atmos models under its umbrella. Very few remember the Air Force 1 B, or understand what it was. Based on the afore mentioned B class sneakers (not to be confused with B-grades found at Nike factory stores) the B line up usually refers to a co.jp designed sneaker with some type of exclusive design element applied to it. These sneakers have stood the test of time and rank among the most sought after sneakers. This sneaker is definitely a collector’s trophy shoe. Green is a color that is rarely used on the AF1 to begin with, and this Deep Forest color exists on no other AF1 to date. Apart from the outstanding color used on the outer shell, Nike completed this sneaker with a burgundy-brown accent color on the laces, heel padding, and underside of the tongue. It was also paired with an orange insole and of course an embroidered white swoosh and all white sole. Tasty! If you own a pair of these, hats off to you and your appetite for full grain leather!
