After the announcement that Steph Curry dropped out of this year’s Rio Olympic games, we’re holding out hope that more of our favorite basketball stars don’t do the same. Fears about the Zika Virus as well as an uncertain off-season full of free agency decisions means we could be looking at a very different Team USA this summer. Kevin Durant hasn’t made up his mind either, which means there’s a 50/50 chance we see him lace up this Nike KD 9 “USA” in a few months. Nike Basketball has transformed Team USA’s appearance into bare bones simplicity as showcased in the recent uniform overhaul, and previews of the Nike Kobe 11 and Nike Kyrie 2 pairs match that simplified look with clean white bases and accents of patriotic red and blue in sparse quantities. This KD 9 is the first Durant signature to utilize Flyknit as an interwoven chain link pattern is emulated on the outsole to match the upper. You can expect this pair to arrive at retailers in early July alongside the Kyrie and Kobe renditions as well. More photos below.
