Kyrie Irving‘s unique balance and slashing cuts to the hoop have become an iconic part of the young point guard’s game. The 23-year-old proved he’s All-Star worthy even in the brief six games he’s played this season by crossing up John Wall and co. to the tune of 19 fourth quarter points last night. So where did Kyrie get his unique footwork? Possibly from skateboarding. Video footage exists of Kyrie partaking in his childhood passion dating back to his rookie season when he hopped on a board at the Berrics. Now Nike is immortalizing his love for skateboarding with this Kyrie 2 “Skateboard” colorway. The GS pair features a unique skull graphic on the side panel as it chomps down on a skateboard, while the tongue logo is transformed into a Hyper Jade skateboard as well. If that wasn’t an obvious enough inspiration, the straps serves as a focal element through the use of grip tape material to further the theme. What do you think of this Nike Kyrie 2? The Nike Kyrie 2 “Skateboard” will release in a gradeschool size run on February 6th for $100. More official photos below.
