By now you’ve seen Nike’s entire Doernbecher collection for 2015, and now we’ll break down a few of the models individually. Right now we’re gonna take a look at all the detials of the LeBron 13 by Doernbecher patient Kian Safholm. Certainly a highlight of the collection, 11 year old Kian who battled a staph infection that spread to his heart two years ago and is now in full recovery gives the shoe a colorway inspired by his favorite basketball player, LeBron James. Taking LeBron’s lion motif, Kian outfitted King James’ latest signature shoe in a color-faded upper inspired by the sunrise on the savanna where lions roam free. Kian’s own details to the shoe include a family crest on the insole and the words ” Forever Grateful”, his family’s motto after his illness. The Doernbecher x Nike LeBron 13 will launch alongside the rest of the 2015 Doernbecher collection on Saturday, November 21st on nike.com, at select* Nike retail locations across the country and at select Villa** and Shoe Palace*** retail locations, with all proceeds from the sales of the collection benefitting OHSU Doernbecher.
