The Nike Air Max 95 is currently celebrating its 20th Anniversary. In honor of the occasion, Nike Sportswear recently unveiled a special homage to one of its most famous running models in a new art installation in New York City’s Lower East Side. The LES art exhibit known as Wallplay on the corner of Delancey and Orchard now displays a prominent mural of the ubiquitous Nike Air Max 95 “Neon” pair being deconstructed in cartoonish fashion by renowned Mexico City-based street artist Smithe One. On one side of the mural, the freshly minted Nike Air Max 95 JCRD showcases the new knit construction while the side facing the Delancey proudly wears the OG classic. Inside, limited edition Anatomy of Air prints signed and individually numbered by the artist will be available while supplies last. The Swoosh also enlisted the help of neighboring the Extra Butter location to put up an accompanying display. Together, Nike and Extra Butter hosted a Nike Running Club event for 100+ participants. Check out a few photos below and be sure to head over to 125 Orchard Street to check out the mural while it’s still on display.
