In the immediate post-Jordan years, the NBA’s landscape was wide open for a fresh batch of stars to make a name for themselves. Kevin Garnett was one of the young players that exuded a ton of energy and earned the right to call himself one of the best in the game. KG is one of the few players to make the switch from Nike to adidas and eventually ended up wearing an overseas brand toward the twilight of his career. But with The Big Ticket back in Minnesota, it’s only right that the Swoosh bring back one of KG’s most memorable models in the Nike Air Garnett 3. The 1999 model personified Nike Basketball’s early aughts perfectly, as a traditional tumbled leather was still a harkening back to the 90s construction of performance models but the gradient mesh pattern aimed at innovating something more profound and head-turning for KG’s third silhouette. Now called the Nike Air LE 3, the retro won’t come with Garnett’s stamp of approval but we can still imagine him lacing this pair up in a late game regular season game as he mentors A.Wiggins and Karl Anthony-Towns. What do you think about the shoe’s return? Check out more photos below and we’ll keep you updated on a release date in the near future.
