Andrew Wiggins, projected to be one of the top picks in the upcoming NBA Draft, took a trip to the Nike Campus earlier this week, sparking quite a discussion regarding the Canadian basketball star’s potential as next in line for a Nike Basketball signature shoe. Sneaker brands aren’t particularly shy at all when it comes to tapping these young athletes before they technically become pro ballers, so Wiggins’ visit to the WHQ shouldn’t really come as a huge surprise.
So let’s say Wiggins does in fact sign a long-term deal with Nike – does that instantly make him the brand’s signature athlete for the future? With the LeBron, KD, and Kobe line well into their own paths and the next wave in Kyrie Irving, Paul George, and James Harden slowly being ushered in, this leaves Wiggins and the next crop of youngsters in perfect placement within Nike’s development plans. Nothing’s confirmed for now, but let’s hear your opinions regarding Wiggins being the next Nike signature athlete.
