Remember those Star Techs and Pro Leathers Japanese designer Ryusaku ‘sak’ Hiruma crafted for the ultra-premium Converse First String line? You probably don’t because the folks willing to shell out six hundred dollars for a pair of Converses aren’t that much more common than the scant 152 pairs of those three styles combined. Long story short, sak’s penchant for premium leather led to some of the finest releases the One Star has ever issued, and today we get a glimpse at that same lofty strata with two new in-house designs. Both the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star hightop and its lowtop Ox edition are presented here with oiled leather uppers and sockliners, leather toe caps and foxing rands and even a backpack-style diamond loop on the tongue tag of the highs. These might not have the resale value of those elusive sak collabos, but you’re absolutely making an investment into timeless style on this immortal silhouette when you buy a pair at retailers like Kith.
