The adidas SLVR collection has produced a wide variety of sleek lifestyle-oriented sneakers over the past year-plus, almost all of which are entirely new silhouettes bearing only passing resemblances to the vast adidas Originals catalog. But for their latest model, the Brand with the Three Stripes seems to borrow from within as well as from other industry leaders. The adidas SLVR S-M-L Concept will strike regular Sneaker News readers for its use of a sole similar to Yohji Yamamoto’s Y-3 Kubo Mid, itself bearing a certain resemblance to Reebok’s ZigTech signature sole. And as the name would suggest, these joints come in tee-shirt-style sizes a la Nike Air Presto. The lightweight mesh upper is basically collapsible, which means they’re “easy to get on and off, easy to pack, and light to carry,” which makes this new model “perfect for air travel”. Driving shoes have been around for ages but an airplane sneaker?! A concept like this makes a model that borrows heavily from others quite the unique finished product and you can grab them direct from the SLVRstore.
