February is dedicated to the remembrance of Black History in America – an annual tradition that began in 1976. Nike has also been a part of celebratiNG the month-long event by releasing special colorways of its sneakers – most notably the Nike Air Force 1. Here’s a look at the Nike Zoom Kobe VI ‘Black History Month’; it features a ‘Big Stage Away‘ colorway of Black and Gold with a black upper, gold swoosh, heel-counter, and heel outsole, and a ‘BHM’ logo on the window of the heel-counter. Aside from the colorway is the elegant ridges used on the upper, which mimics the African tradition of facial and bodily scarification which has been a form of art and symbolic of strength and courage within African culture.
