With so much to celebrate, spirits were high last night in NJ in anticipation of the Packer Shoes x Fila FX-100 collaboration in-store release. Packer is proudly celebrating over 100 years in the footwear game and Fila will hit the century mark next year. To further sweeten the party, New York b-ball fan-favorite, Larry Johnson, who wore the FX-100 as a Knick was brought into the mix with four colorways of the shoe created to honor his legendary 4-point play. The FX-100 was a street-style staple for many in the 80’s and early 90’s, and the nostalgia factor brought out plenty of folks who have been daydreaming of getting their hands on a crisp new pair after such a long drought. And of course, an appearance by a former hometown hero didn’t hurt.
Despite a nasty rainy night in NJ, a wall to wall crowd still filled the shop and LJ couldn’t have been happier to mix it up with everyone and bask in the love. Larry was incredibly outgoing and eager to interact with the fans and kept his marker moving all night, as he signed shoes, boxes, posters, basketballs and more, all with a smile on his face and a non-stop stream of one-liners and friendly jabs flowing. Those in attendance were also treated to free stickers, posters and bottles of LJ’s new Grandmama’s Tea iced tea, so there was plenty to keep the mob happy as they waited for their chance to purchase their FX-100’s and get some facetime with Larry. Keep reading for a ton of pics from the event and stay tuned for our 1 on 1 interview with LJ coming soon.
