One of the unexpected beneficiaries of nostalgic Y2K trends has been the Nike Shox R4. Brought back from the archives last year, the wonky runner has largely honed in on the female demographic since its return. The latest Nike Shox R4 “Racer Blue” doesn’t change that demographic strategy but opts for a novel color swatch.
Though “tech runner” isn’t in the Shox R4 job description, the same retro furustic chrome colorways of that vertical frequently make their way to the model all the same. Via the embroidered swoosh and dotted 3M linework, that remains the case, but drenching the shoe comprehensively in “Racer Blue” is the real intrigue. We got images of the Nike Zoom Vomero 5 “Racer Blue” not long ago, carrying almost an identical palette and possibly hinting towards a pack release across the Swoosh’s retro offerings. Even if that doesn’t end up being the case, the nearly reflective cobalt tones that dominate this pair only enhance Shox R4’s futuristic composition and create a standout pair.
The Nike Shox R4 “Racer Blue” is projected to drop in August, releasing in women’s sizing for $150. Get a closer look via a detailed gallery ahead via JD Sports.
Staying with the Swoosh, the Nike KD 17 launches this week, followed shortly after by the Nike KD 17 “Penny” on May 24th.
