The Aged Aesthetic Pushes Forward With The Latest Nike Mac Attack

Not for a lack of effort or fetching colorways, but the Mac Attack hasn’t really hit that stride that Nike hoped it would. It was largely a timing issue as this prized tennis classic from 1984 would have reached a larger audience in 2021 when leather-built retros from the 80s were the most-wanted item in lifestyle fashion, but as we’ve seen in the history of sneakers, trends are always cyclical.

The latest Mac Attack GR is an example of how timing might be the most important ingredient when it comes to Retro product. This pair’s got an off-white, almost yellow shade on the leather with a fading green suede; there’s no question these would’ve been a massive hit if it just arrived at the right time. In fact, timing is more impactful than ever, because there’s too much throwback product out on the market as is. Even Travis Scott’s collaboration failed to have any lasting measure; this should force the internal team at Nike to regroup and restrategize.

If you’re still aboard the Mac Attack train, Nike will drop this release soon for $120 at Nike Sportswear retailers and on Nike.com.
