Back in January, the New Balance x Junya Watanabe 1906L was showcased by the man himself, a reveal some took as just a one-off iteration on the tech runner silhouette. With new images of the New Balance 1906L “Silver” just emerging, it’s certain that’s not the case, and its soft launch continues with the brown and navy version at hand.
If you were to hear this shoe’s description on paper, you could probably image what it looks like in practice. Much of the original New Balance 1906R design stay constant on this new take, with the sole unit and huge swaths of the upper remaining intact. The entire entrance section is chopped out, though, to befit this new loafer life, a thin fabric strip sealing the edges that are left. A leather strap is the only other major addition.
As for the colorway at hand, while the silver pair obviously leaned into the classic tech runner formula, these venture into a classier realm, borrowing classic brown leather to match its renewed purpose. Navy underneath and black accents throughout rely on that same concept, but the deep blue that pops on the midsole enhances the truly unconventional design that marks the shoe as a whole. ”
The New Balance 1906L loafer is set to debut this fall. More release details are likely to emerge as we get closer to the drop, but you can get advance looks just below.
