In 2021, ESPN and adidas Originals fittingly collaborated on a retro take on the ESPN Top Ten silhouette, bringing the sports media giant’s signature colors of of orange brown commonly seen on set and on their logo. Fast forward three years to the institution’s own 45th Anniversary, and they’ve linked up with the three stripes brand with another model from that basketball franchise.
The ESPN x adidas Top Ten 2000 is officially revealed in a celebratory colorway that nods to the daily updates of the sports world. The choice of red on the upper straps is a nod to the red ticker tapes reserved for breaking news, sapphire blue for the 45th anniversary, and gold to draw a connection to what ESPN calls the “golden age” of basketball.
“This shoe commemorates a golden era in basketball, and pays homage to the synergy between adidas and ESPN, two iconic brands that continue to shape the worlds of sports and culture” says Seth Ader, Vice President of Brand Marketing at ESPN.
This limited edition release is dropping on March 15th for $150 on adidas.com.
