While the Next Nature program has been wide-ranging in revamping Nike models, performance basketball, let alone signature athlete lines, is a category only explored via Luka Doncic’s shoes. It began on his first silhouette, but has continued consistently through to the Jordan Luka 2, highlighting a genuine commitment to sustainability from the Slovenian superstar. No other NBA star under the Oregon umbrella has had their products given this sustainability stamp, giving this “Olive Aura” colorway and others before it a pretty solitary niche.
In their second edition, the Luka line has by and large stayed in its own lane palette-wise rather than take pages out of Mike’s book. But in the realm of sneakers, the combination of olive and orange only means one thing, and allusions to UNDFTD 4s will surely make their way into news about this pair. Keeping it out of the realm of a no-doubt recreation, multiple shades of green appear here, with a tone closer to jade serving as the primary color.
Formally, the same textured and speckled sole seen on other shoes with Next Nature branding crops up here. Consistent with the last pair of Luka’s that surfaced in the “Caves” or “Lake Bled” Luka 2, marbled, paracord patterned rope appears on top of the leather panelling that runs alongside the laces. On top of providing an additional structural element, that detailing first made its debut on the Space Hippie. It gives visual reinforcement to the recycled materials in construction of both shoes, as well as providing a “only real heads will know” conceptual tie.
The differing chemistry in their composition lend a slight premium to these Jordan Luka 2s, retailing for $140 rather than the typical $130.
