Since retiring, Deion Sanders never stepped away from the game of football. After his days as a two-sport mega-star were over, he stuck close to the pigskin as an on-air analyst for the sport while also readying the next generation of ballers with the Prime Prep Academy. In 2020, he took his first major coaching gig as he was hired by HBCU Jackson State; two seasons later, he found himself as the leader of the Colorado Buffaloes.
The spotlight simply follows Sanders around, much like a defensive back tracks the movement of a wide receiver. That’s why the return of his Air DT Max ’96 signature shoe has built a palpable anticipation around it, only leading Nike to believe that the Diamond Turf series is destined for success in the modern day market.
While we knew about the return of the DT Max ’96 back in 2023, we’re finally getting a first official look at the 2024 re-issue — and there are some key updates to this new execution. As it turns out, the upcoming retro will not only feature the original goal post logos on the tongue and insole, but his present-day “Coach Prime” logos will appear on the heel pull-tabs of the shoe.
Recently, pairs of this shoe began surfacing on Instagram, although it wasn’t clear if those versions blessed with the Coach Prime emblem were made for Friends & Family only. Now, we have confirmation that all the general release pairs will feature this next-generation symbol.
A release date is confirmed for February 10th, 2024 on SNKRS with an MSRP of $170.
