Jovani Hernandez ASICS’ popular GEL-Kayano 14 will continue to release in new styles throughout 2024.
Born in 2008, the retro running sneaker has had a resurgence in popularity over the last three years. Throughout 2023, the silhouette shared the spotlight with other old performance-running models from the Japanese institution, but it’s looking to retake the throne soon. With the start of the new year just days away, the ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 has appeared in an “Dark Pewter/Seal Grey” color combination. Familiar and arguably trend-setting, the arrangement doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but delivers another compelling and versatile take for fans of the “Y2K” aesthetic. The titular blue-ish hue lands across profile logos and other complementing accents throughout the upper. A shimmering metallic finish takes on components nearby, falling in line with original makeups of the stability-focused GEL-Kayano offering.
Underfoot, the robust, performance-ready sole unit keeps things simple. Midsoles opt for a white look that contrasts the mesh base above. Visible GEL pods provide a milkier white shade without detracting from the shoe’s overall look. Traction takes on a matching blue shade.
