Back in February of this year, the revolutionary AND1 brand announced the return of the Rise basketball shoe through a cryptic teaser that went live during All-Star Weekend. The AND1 Rise represented a key era of the basketball industry; it proved that the it’s the size of the fight in the dog and not vice versa, and despite competing against massive budgets and superstar endorsers of competing global brands, AND1 was at on point the big dog in the game.
AND1’s history dates back to the early 1990s, but its most impactful era was easily the Streetball Tour era where names like Professor, Hot Sauce, and other amateur basketball “performers” were the most popular names in the sport. The AND1 Rise had that quintessential Y2K look, with smooth leather toes, cleaner branding, and a functional TPU overlay that also acted as the chief design element. It wasn’t just a streetball shoe either; NBA star Chauncey Billups was THE guy for the brand, and exposure during the 2004 NBA Finals certainly helped.
Without any further announcement, the AND1 Rise has become available, in case you’ve been waiting. All five are available now directly at Amazon for $110 for the white leather pairs and $120 for the black/silver and white/silver (sizes 7-15 Men’s).
