Since his early days with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Russell Westbrook has been paying homage to his childhood friend Khelcy Barrs, who passed away due to an enlarged heart when the two were playing in a pick-up game at 16 years old. From his “KB3” bracelets and logos placed on his past PEs, Westbrook’s sixth signature silhouette with Jordan Brand now enacts a titular tribute to the life of Khelcy Barrs.
With dreams of attending UCLA together, the Jordan Why Not 0.6 enjoys a vibrant palette inspired by the hues of the aforementioned program and the two friend’s high school varsity color scheme of red and blue. Painting a sunset-reminiscent gradient atop the grid-layered shroud, a pastel-infused “Blue Whisper” coats the surrounding overlays at the mudguard and heel while further dousing the tongue construction and zipper above. Illuminated by yellow-gold Westbrook logos and “Blue Tint” Jumpman insignias, the latter conjoin for the rear pull tabs “KB3” branding that brings the memory and life of Khelcy Barrs to the masses.
While a release date has yet to be announced, in the meantime enjoy official imagery of the Jordan Why Not 0.6 “Khelcy Barrs” below.
For more on-court efforts, Jamal Murray debuted the New Balance TWO WXY V3 “Spin Cycle” during the Nuggets Game 2 win in the Western Conference Semis.
