Following their split from Beyonce and her IVY PARK line, adidas continues to look for compelling new collaborators to drum up conversation. Celebrated worldwide for their uniquely distinctive prints and graphics, Marimekko now serves as the main design culprit behind the 3-Stripes Spring/Summer 2023 collection inviting those to express themselves boldly through sport and movement.
Teaming up with the Finnish design house for the first time this April, an onslaught of apparel pieces and footwear has recently been loaded to adidas.com. Comprised of prints and a monochrome palette plucked straight from the 60s and Marimekko’s archives, the upcoming collection features both the Linssi print designed by Kaarina Kellomäki in 1966 and Maija Isol’s 1962 Lokki print. As such, the oval shapes of the Linssi graphic fill each silhouette, coating the upper of the Ultraboost 1.0 and the NMD_R1 before transitioning to a background accent atop the Supernova 2.0’s sole unit while filling the mid-foot 3-Stripes of the Superstar.
In contrast, the wavy Lokki visual wraps across everything from shirts, hoodies and shorts to a myriad of tennis pieces and workout-ready clothing for men, women and children. Dominated by a black and dull cream background, orange and sky blue hues preside as synonymous accents throughout the full slate of options.
The Marimekko x adidas SS23 Collection is set to begin releasing on April 1st with further footwear options becoming available on April 8th. In the meantime, enjoy official images of the collaborative silhouettes below and make sure to hit up adidas.com today to grab your favorites from the pack.
In other news from the 3-Stripes brand, Fucking Awesome’s Jason Dill is releasing his own adidas Samba collab tomorrow.
