Jared Ebanks Throughout 2022 the adidas Originals team has metaphorically been visiting and tasting the authentic cuisines of various cultures and communities from across the globe. Bringing to life the traditions and flavors present amongst representative local restaurants and eateries, the Three Stripes adilicous series has returned to evoke the fiery taste of Howlin’ Ray’s Nashville hot chicken with the adidas Campus 80s.
Birthed on a food truck in 2015 – and since proffering a duo of restaurants – the LA-based eatery’s synonymous black and red tonal scheme play a seldom hand in the dominant cream constructed upper. Coating its smooth leather tongue and adjacently placed heel tab in a jet-black pigment, thin red threading accents the latter in tandem with its matching leather sock liner and thin nylon laces while a muted golden dubrae enjoys “Howlin’ Ray’s” branding. Amidst the remaining real estate’s brightened ensemble, glossy red detailing outfits the midfoot 3-Stripes alongside the restaurants’ name completing another insignia in a checkerboard style typeface along the heel before concluding with its third effort along the tread.
Accompanying the murky translucent outsole with a black white and red chicken motif hangtag, enjoy official images of the adidas Campus 80s “Holwin’ Ray’s” alongside a store list for the silhouette’s overseas drop on January 1st, 2023 and sit tight while we anticipate further details regarding a stateside release.
