Aubrey “Drake” Graham has been in the news as of late over his collaborative album with 21 Savage, Her Loss. On the sneaker side of things, the Canadian megastar has been seeding pairs of his “Certified Lover Boy”-inspired Nike Air Force 1, with a new NOCTA collection soon joining the mix.
Headlined by an all purple pair of the Hot Step Air Terra, the NOCTA x Nike collection prepped for Holiday ’22 includes a number of apparel items Drake and team have prepped to form a “street uniform for all generations,” as stated on the Instagram post that officially unveiled the upcoming items. Two-tone nylon tracksuits complement the next Air Max-cushioned sneaker by the October’s Very Own frontman, while a seemingly all-white waterproof parka offers protection and warmth for any activities going down during those “scary hours.” An all-red version of the NOCTA Puffer Jacket was also teased in the first set of images shared of the next Cardinal Stock selection (NOCTA Cardinal Stock is, according to the Swoosh, “a curated release by NOCTA offering some of the most recognizable and uniform silhouettes in additional colors).
Although specific references to the places and figures captured in the latest campaign imagery weren’t made, the team behind the campaign took to New York City. The streets of Harlem and the Bronx are visible throughout the campaign – which is rumored to have a video complement – showcasing a number of young residents that refer to themselves as “The Goated Ones.” Edot Baby, a known rapper in the burgeoning Harlem Drill music scene, is also featured in the latest NOCTA x Nike campaign, although the New York-native committed suicide on November 4th. One of the artist’s most popular songs was “Ready 4 War,” which helped put him and Harlem’s “Sugar Hill” section on drill fans’ radars in early 2020. Friends, artists, and fellow Harlemites, DD Osama (dubbed the “Drill Justin Bieber”) and Sugarhillddot, also appear in the campaign. Sources close to Sneaker News shared that Drake personally reached out to all three New Yorkers to participate in the campaign.
No firm Nike.com launch date has been disclosed by any party involved, but that’s likely to change soon. In the meantime, enjoy campaign imagery of the upcoming NOCTA x Nike collection ahead.
